For satellites orbiting at a height h above the earth’s surface (with radius of earth as R)

  • near Earth orbit has h approximately between 250km to 1000km
  • orbital velocity: orbital-velocity2

 

For satellites in geostationary orbits around the earth (with radius of earth as R)

  • orbital period : orbital-period
  • orbital velocity : orbital-velocity3
