Exploitation of Workers

Exploitation of Workers

  • The Fair Labor Association (FLA) is a non-profit organisation that works with companies, universities, and civil society organisations in order to promote and protect workers’ rights and improve working conditions in global supply chains.
  • An example of FLA’s activism to promote workers’ rights was its collaboration with Nike in the early 2000s. The FLA conducted independent assessments of the factories and identified areas that were violating labour rights and where improvements were needed. Nike then worked with its suppliers to address the issues identified by the FLA, such as inadequate wages, excessive working hours, and poor working conditions.
  • The FLA also promotes transparency and accountability in global supply chains.
