Treatment of Refugees
- The Syrian civil war, which began in 2011, resulted in the displacement of millions of Syrians.
- As a response to this crisis, the Canadian government launched a program with the goal to resettle 25,000 Syrian refugees by February 2016. This program was notable for its emphasis on humanitarian principles and its commitment to protecting the rights of refugees.
- To make sure the refugees had full access to education, healthcare services as well as legal support, the Canadian government collaborated with multiple NGOs to provide the refugees with resettlement services.
