The Role Of: Non-Government Organisations

Non-Government Organisations

  • NGOs in Australia, similar to international NGOs, play an important role in observing and understanding cases of human rights violations in the community, preparing reports and drawing the attention of the government as well as legal authorities on these issues.
  • The NGOs also partner with various organisations to address and advocate human right policies by raising public awareness about abuse of human rights, and calling for steps to mitigate them.
